Master Builders Australia welcomes the improved Budget outlook outlined by the Treasurer in the Mid-Year Economic Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO).
“The smaller than predicted deficit and the Government’s continued commitment to budget repair will help underpin confidence in in the economy and should support investment into the construction sector, productivity and jobs,” Denita Wawn, CEO of Master Builders Australia said.
“It is particularly gratifying that a large proportion of debt in the Budget forward estimates is being used to fund productivity driving infrastructure investment,” she said.
“The Government’s provision of $6.8 million over four years to fund the work of the Asbestos Eradication Agency, in particular the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for Asbestos Management and Awareness as well as the administration of the National Asbestos Exposure Register, is supported by Master Builders,” Denita Wawn said.
“Funding for investigations and referrals from the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption is also welcome,” Denita Wawn said.
