Fear by Queensland Government safety inspectors to attend construction sites predominantly covered by the CFMMEU shows why the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) must be maintained regardless of who wins the next Federal Election.
Denita Wawn, CEO of Master Builders Australia “The fact that the Queensland Government’s own safety inspectors will not attend CFMMEU dominated sites because they fear for their own safety just shows how deeply the problem of CFMMEU bullying entrenched has become, and why a special regulator is needed to tackle it.”
“Safety is the number one priority on construction sites and this shows yet again why CFMMEU bullying undermines good safety outcomes,” Denita Wawn said.
“It’s the community that always pays the price of CFMMEU bullying because they are forced to pay up to 30% more for their roads, schools hospitals and this is no exception with one of the 17 Queensland construction sites safety inspectors are too scared to visit includes the taxpayer funded Bruce Highway upgrade,” she said.
“The ABCC is essential to stopping bullying on building sites and thereby promoting better safety outcomes,” Denita Wawn said.
