Master Builders files this submission in respect of the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Bill 2023 (‘the Bill’). Master Builders does not support the Bill and we urge the Committee to recommend that it not be passed.

Although the Bill contains some non-controversial elements, the majority of the changes proposed are opposed on the basis they will result in significant and adverse outcomes for over 440,000 businesses that operate in building and construction and the 1.3 million people they employ.

The detailed grounds and reasons for this position are set out in the submission.
