Master Builders elects construction industry veteran As National President

Master Builders Australia has announced the election of construction industry veteran Hedley Davis as its new National President to lead the building and construction industry peak body.

Mr Davis currently consults to a number of construction contractors and sits in non-executive director roles on a number of boards. He has more than 40 years’ experience in the building and construction industry in senior leadership roles with some of the Australia’s largest construction businesses including Baulderstone Hornibrook (subsequently part of Lendlease) and Watpac. He has extensive experience across the commercial construction, civil infrastructure and mining sectors.

Mr Davis has overseen the construction of iconic buildings and civil infrastructure projects in the nation’s capital cities, particularly Melbourne where he oversaw the construction of the Western Link section of CityLink and the Docklands Stadium among other well-known major projects.

Mr Davis was elected following the completion of the term of office of the previous President Dan Perkins, Managing Director of Perkins Builders. Mr Davis has said that he intends to continue to advance the Board’s commitment to growing Master Builders Australia’s effectiveness as a national voice for its 32,000 members.

Mr Davis has a long history of serving the Master Builders movement. He is a Past President of the Master Builders Association of Victoria and has served on the National Board of Master Builders Australia since 2012, most recently as Deputy President.

Master Builders Australia is also pleased to announce the election of Simon Butt as its new Deputy President and Craig Edmunds as Treasurer. Simon and Craig are the CEOs of commercial contractors Manteena and Fairbrother based in Canberra and Tasmania respectively.

Mr Davis said the task for Master Builders in 2018 is to champion the vital reforms that have been achieved to restore the rule of law in the construction sector and to highlight the indispensable contribution that the industry makes in providing training, jobs and prosperity in communities around Australia.
