- Regulator confirms its BAU despite virus disruption
A quarterly meeting of the ABCCs Security of Payment Working Group was held on Thursday, with the regulator confirming that obligations on code covered entities (CCE) to report ‘delayed and disputed’ contractor payments will need to continue despite COVID concerns. The ABCC has activated various contingency plans and confirm operations will continue as normal, meaning industry participants will need to continue being compliant with the Building Code 2016 and its various reporting obligations.
Each quarter the ABCC takes action to investigate about 5 cases of payment disputes. Figures made available to Group appointees show the regulator has around 100 SOP matters each quarter, with about half of these being reports of disputed or delayed payments, 40 being general enquiries and the remainder being complaints of alleged non-payment.
