Master Builders supports Governments housing bills

Master Builders Australia supports the Government’s Bills targeting housing affordability that are expected to be debated in the Senate this week.

“Increasing the supply of new housing must be the top priority if we are to keep the dream of homeownership alive, but the measures contained in these Bills will also assist,” Denita Wawn, CEO of Master Builders Australia said.

“The First Home Super Saver Scheme will assist first home buyers to save for a mortgage deposit which has been identified as a barrier to many young people getting into home ownership,” she said.

“Measures to make it more attractive for people aged over sixty five to ‘down size’ to a home more suited to their lifestyles will also free up housing stock,” Denita Wawn said.

“Master Builders calls on the Senate to support these bills and looks forward to the Government continuing to bring on the housing supply measures in announced in the May Budget,” Denita Wawn said.
